I’ve got another Scribbler unboxing for you! The February box featured perspective, and I can’t wait to start reading this month’s book. In my current draft of Shenanigans, I’ve been expanding the number of characters who get to tell their own side of things, so I’m looking forward to learning how to accomplish this better!
I’m a sucker for a good romance and this book is promising to deliver! I usually try to hold off on reading Scribbler books until the group discussion kicks off, but I think I may have to read this one early, because I just can’t wait.
<The> Marriage Code by Brooke Burroughs
In Brooke Burroughs’s endearing debut novel set in vibrant India, enemies turned allies encounter obstacles in an unexpected multicultural romance only to discover that in the end, love is love.
Emma has always lived her life according to a plan. But after turning down her boyfriend’s proposal, everything starts to crumble. In an effort to save the one thing she cares about―her job―she must recruit her colleague, Rishi, to be on her development team…only she may or may not have received the position he was promised. (She did.)
Rishi cannot believe that he got passed over for promotion. To make matters worse, not only does his job require him to return home to Bangalore with his nemesis, Emma, but his parents now expect him to choose a bride and get married. So, when Emma makes him an offer―join her team, and she’ll write an algorithm to find him the perfect bride―he reluctantly accepts.
Neither of them expect her marriage code to work so well―or to fall for one another―which leads Emma and Rishi to wonder if leaving fate up to formulas is really an equation for lasting love.
I’m super excited about the gifts I received in this month’s box. The bonus add on items for the month were Moonstruck chocolate bars and I added on two; one for myself and one for my husband. They are both already devoured! I have to say that my chocolate bar tasted so good with a hot cup of the Equal Exchange chamomile tea. Did you know that if you eat chocolate while drinking a hot beverage the chocolate will literally melt in your mouth? It’s fantastic! I also received a two sided poster that is already propped up on my desk, a to-do notepad that is going to allow me to stop carrying around a full sized notebook, and four buttons that are as cute as… well, buttons.
I’ve said it before and I will keep saying it: I love my Scribblers boxes! I love that they work with incredible businesses and spark so much inspiration in their products. You can check out Scribbler boxes here! Not only can you subscribe to their boxes, you can purchase individual items from past boxes, enter writing contests, and download helpful creativity packets like this one. Again, I am not sponsored or affiliated with Scribblers. I just really love what they do for writers. Could I write without them? Absolutely. Is it so much more enjoyable with them? More than you know!! Drop me a comment and don’t forget to sign up for my newsletter so you don’t miss anything happening here at BookWyrm Cove. Happy writing!
